Houses In Leicester Suburbs.
Not everyone wants to buy or live in a property in Leicester city centre or within the city limits.

Leicester has many desirable properties to suit every buyers needs and budget in its suburbs.These range from 1950′s detached and semi detached houses in areas such as Birstall,Aylestone,Western Park and Leicester Forest East just to name a few, to brand new estates in Hamilton and Thorpe Astley.
With the construction of the Outer Ring Road the majority of these areas have good access to the M69 & M1 motorways plus easy travelling to Fosse Park Retail Park.
Many of the small local developers such as Holmfields have built in many of these areas on “brownfield” sites which mainly consists of large back gardens purchased from existing home owners and built new style modern houses and bungalows.This type of development breathes new life back into the community without destroying the character of these established suburbs.It also allows potential buyers to move into a brand new house and not worry about any decoration or modernisation that an older property might require.
A lot of smaller houses in these areas are town houses which are the modern equivalant of terraced houses but they provide an excellent opportunity for first time buyers.

Leicester Houses.
Leicester (pronounced LES-tər) is a city in the East Midlands area of England. It is also the county town of Leicestershire. The city lies on the River Soar and at the edge of the National Forest. Leicester is the 10th most populous settlement in the United Kingdom.
Leicester is located on Midland Main Line and close to the M1 motorway. The city has a large ethnic minority population, particularly of South Asian origin, a product of immigration to the United Kingdom since the Second World War. To cater for the South Asian community, there are many Hindu, Sikh and Muslim places of worship and the Melton Road district serves as a focus, containing large numbers of Asian restaurants and other small businesses. Leicester is a centre for higher education, with both Leicester University and De Montfort University being based in the city.
There are two main shopping centres in Leicester – the Haymarket Centre and Highcross Leicester. The Haymarket Centre was opened on the site in 1974, and was the first to be built in the City, with parking for up to 500 cars on several levels, two levels of shopping with bus station, and was also the site of the former Haymarket Theatre. Highcross Leicester opened in 2008 after work to redevelop “The Shires Centre” was completed at a cost of £350 million (creating 120 stores, 15 restaurants, a cinema, 110,000 m2 of shopping space). Smaller shopping centres are St Martin’s Square and the Silver Arcade. The Leicester Lanes area has numerous designer and specialist shops. Leicester Market is the largest outdoor covered market in Europe selling a wide variety of goods. The Golden Mile is the name given to a stretch of Belgrave Road renowned for its authentic Indian restaurants, sari shops, and jewellers, The Diwali celebrations in Leicester are focused on this area and are the largest outside India.
Leicester has a number of department stores including Fenwick, House of Fraser, John Lewis, and Debenhams selling products as diverse as home cinema systems,the latest fashions and mobile phones.
Leicester Market is the largest outdoor covered marketplace in Europe and among the products on sale are fruit and vegetables sold by enthusiastic market stallholders who shout out their prices, and fresh fish and meat in the Indoor Market. Every year during the summer the Leicester city council hold cultural festivals here. In 2009 the Leicester Mela was held in the market area.
Even though surveys show that nearly half of all new houses in Leicester should have at least 4 bedrooms but most housing built during the last five years has been small apartments and many big houses have been converted into flats Leicester still has a large and varied range of available housing, both to buy and to rent.

Affordable terraced houses in areas such as the West End, Narbourough Road (near to DeMontfort University),Melton Road and the Belgrave area which is where the Golden Mile is situated and Queens Road, Clarendon Park area which is very popular with students due to its proximity to Leicester University plus the Highfields, East park Road area are still sought after houses in Leicester as they are are situated very close to the city centre and offer the first time buyer a step onto the property ladder.
Property in Leicester city centre consists mainly of new developements and redevelopment of old factories which have been converted into apartments.One type of housing that Leicester is not short of is flats and with a little bit of research you should be able to find suitable accommodation to suit your requirements and budget.
Within the city limits you will find a wide choice of post war semi detached homes which have large gardens.Many of these have been extended over the years and are ideal for those of you with a growing family.One of the most popular areas for large detached houses in Leicester is Stoneygate which extends along the London Road from Victoria Park right the way to the Oadby.These large houses are in the upper range of most peoples budget with the average price around £450,000.
